Asthma camps help children with asthma learn how to better control the disease while enjoying a fun summer camp experience. We offer both day and residential camps where children can participate in activities like hiking, swimming, and arts and crafts in a supportive environment. Medical help is available and careful attention is paid to food allergies and other health concerns.
Each day is filled with activities as well as classes that focus on lung health. Children learn:
• How their lungs work
• What triggers an asthma episode
• Proper use of medications
• How to use a peak flow meter
Volunteers are needed to help teach the campers, organize camp activities and provide medical assistance. If you are a medical professional or just want to help children learn how to live well with this chronic lung disease, asthma camps offer a rewarding volunteer opportunity.
