Want to quit smoking? You’ve come to the right place. American Lung Association of California quit-smoking programs give you the tools you need to fight your addiction to nicotine. Even if you’ve tried to quit before, we can help you do it for good.
Quitting smoking is the most important step you can take for a healthier life. Every year tobacco use causes more than 430,000 deaths in this country from lung cancer and other smoking-related diseases, including emphysema, COPD, heart disease and stroke.
We understand that quitting may be the hardest thing you’ll ever do. Nicotine in tobacco is highly addictive – your body calls out for more, making it hard to fight the urge to smoke.
To help you overpower your cravings, the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking® is offered in communities across the state. The seven-week course helps you understand when and why you smoke so you can change your behavior. And our Freedom From Smoking® Online lets you quit at your own pace by logging on to the program wherever and whenever you want. Both offer support groups to help you through it.
The American Lung Association of California also works to prevent smoking through a variety of programs aimed at kids and teens. We support laws that protect them from easy access to tobacco products and counter the manipulative marketing tactics used by the tobacco industry.
