Lung Health News, Spring / Summer 2005
Despite growing concern about the asthma epidemic, the state has few programs and diminishing resources to address this critical public health issue.
The American Lung Association of California is working to secure funding in the state budget to expand childhood asthma programs that will end July 1, 2005, and to establish an asthma program that would include community-based public health interventions and community healthcare and provider trainings, as well as school-based strategies to assist children with asthma. It would also set up a system to collect and analyze data to better understand the causes and effects of the asthma epidemic in California.
